How resale platform fees work in 2026

Every resale marketplace takes a cut of your sale โ€” but the fee structures vary significantly. Understanding exactly what each platform charges helps you price items correctly and choose where to list for maximum profit.

This calculator uses the current 2026 fee rates for each platform. Fees are applied to the item sale price. Some platforms also charge payment processing fees separately, and listing fees vary. The calculator includes all applicable fees so the net payout figure reflects what you actually receive.

Poshmark fees (2026)

Poshmark charges a flat 20% commission on all sales with no additional payment processing fees. For sales under $15, Poshmark charges a flat $2.95 fee instead. Shipping is handled by Poshmark โ€” buyers pay a flat $7.97 for a USPS label, so you never need to calculate shipping separately.

Poshmark is best for women's fashion, luxury brands, and items that benefit from social sharing. The 20% fee is higher than most competitors but the platform's built-in audience and simple shipping make it worth listing on for the right categories.

eBay fees (2026)

eBay charges a final value fee of 13.25% on most clothing and accessories, plus $0.30 per order. Sellers get 250 free listings per month โ€” additional listings cost $0.35 each. If you use Promoted Listings, an additional 2โ€“15% advertising fee applies (optional).

eBay offers the largest buyer base of any resale platform and is strongest for brand-name items with model numbers, electronics, shoes, and collectibles. Real-time sold data makes pricing straightforward.

Depop fees (2026)

Depop charges a 10% selling fee plus payment processing of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. Total effective fee is approximately 12.9โ€“13.2% depending on sale price. Sellers set their own shipping prices.

Depop is strongest for vintage clothing, Y2K fashion, streetwear, and items targeting a younger demographic (18โ€“26). The platform's visual-first format rewards good photography.

Etsy fees (2026)

Etsy has the most complex fee structure: a 6.5% transaction fee, a $0.20 listing fee per item (listings expire after 4 months), plus 3% + $0.25 payment processing. Listing fees apply whether or not the item sells.

Etsy is best for vintage items (20+ years old), handmade goods, and collectibles. It is not ideal for mainstream fast fashion but performs well for distinctive vintage pieces and accessories.

Facebook Marketplace fees (2026)

Facebook Marketplace charges 0% fees for local pickup sales โ€” the most profitable option if your buyer is nearby. For shipped orders, a 5% selling fee applies (minimum $0.40). No listing fees, no monthly subscription.

Facebook is best for furniture, large items, cars, and anything where local pickup makes sense. The zero-fee local pickup model is unbeatable for margin on high-value items.

Mercari fees (2026)

Mercari charges a 10% selling fee plus 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing. Total effective fee is approximately 12.9โ€“13.2%. Buyers pay flat-rate shipping on most items.

Mercari is a versatile platform that works across many categories โ€” clothing, electronics, toys, and household items. It has a strong mobile user base and is growing rapidly in the US.

Which platform pays the most?
